TWO MONTHS AFTER the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union, Barbados has not seen any major drop-off in visitors from its most important tourist market.

That assurance has come from chairman of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA), Roseanne Myers, who has reported that while there was a slight decline in visitors from the UK last month, the numbers for August were so far looking very promising.

Myers said that although there had been a 2.6 per cent decline in visitors from the UK in July, those numbers were still up by 5.7 per cent from 2015.

She said that between August 1 to 16 there had been a 6.7 per cent increase in tourist arrivals when compared to the same period last year.
