THE ENTREPRISING SPIRIT is alive and well, says the head of the Central Bank of Barbados.

Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell was speaking on Sunday at the opening of the inaugural premier beauty exposition titled Escape, during which he praised the work of the beauty industry entrepreneurs on show at Saltrum Lodge, Easy Hall, St Joseph.

He reminded them that the groundwork for what they were undertaking had been laid by their forefathers as Barbados had not always been the land of opportunity.

“Today’s event is important because it is a celebration also of entrepreneurship. Barbadians have long been entrepreneurs; they had to be to survive.

“I grew up in an era when people bought their groceries at neighbourhood shops which were run by entrepreneurs.
