No landlines

IN THE WEE hours of yesterday morning, residents across the island woke up to find their houses in darkness and fans off.

And when they reached for their FLOW landlines to find out how widespread the outage was, they also found those off and unresponsive.

This unfortunate situation was due to the rising prevalence of fibre connections instead of the old-school copper that Barbadians were used to prior to 2007.

For many, the inability to access what is considered for many, especially the elderly, as their main means of communication left many frustrated, and questioning what to do in a blackout. (AD)
