Barry takes pole position

BARRY MAYERS was the fastest man on wheels on a wet and slippery Bushy Park yesterday.

The 33-year-old Mayers, behind the wheel of his Suzuki SX4 with a new high powered Alfa Romeo engine zoomed into pole position after an impressive display in the marquee Group 4 of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC).

Mayers had the five fastest times in Group 4, his best clocking a one minute, 01.47 secs.

“The track was a bit slippery because there was a bit of oil on the track and there were some showers, but all in all it went well,” he said. (MK)
