Retired principal Reverend Keith Griffith noted there were behaviours in homes, communities and schools that were inconsistent with proper Christian upbringing, moral development and educational advancement.

Speaking on Monday to a combined back-to-school service for students who attend the St Clement’s and St Swithun’s Anglican churches, Griffith said “people seem to be losing their way and are moving in the wrong direction. That is, away from God”.

The former head of the St James Secondary (now Frederick Smith Secondary) said the 2016 school year opened against a backdrop of serious social problems that could affect the way children thought and behaved. This in turn could affect their education. (ES)
