THE ISLAND’S LITTER is catching the eyes of tourists.
Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA) executive and special project manager of the Clean Bim Programme, Marsha Alleyne, revealed yesterday that visitors had started to complain about the dirty state of the island, and she urged Barbadians to clean up their act.
Alleyne was speaking at a Caribbean Youth Environment Network (Barbados) press conference held to reveal a series of beach clean-ups in the coming months.
She said the information was coming from mainly repeat visitors who were the subjects of a number of focus groups.
“Our repeat guests love Barbados and we get a lot of feedback from our repeat clientele . . . and we do a number of focus groups through the year,” she explained. “And one of the things that kept coming up, for our repeat guests, is the fact that the nation is getting dirtier and dirtier each time they actually arrive back in Barbados.”  (HLE)
