TWO GOVERNMENT RUN children’s homes have been closed permanently and dozens of children being cared for by the state have been moved to an upgraded mega-facility in Black Rock.

Minister of Social Care Steve Blackett confirmed the closure of the Campwood Home in St Philip and the Sayes Court Children’s Home in Christ Church, and assured that the country’s capacity to care for its young wards remained adequate.

WEEKEND NATION investigations revealed that Campwood, located at Farm Road, had been closed for over a month and the children housed there and at Sayes Court had been shifted to the Nightengale Complex at Black Rock, St Michael.

Blackett said the Sandy Lane Charitable Trust had built two spanking new facilities at Nightengale which would be used to house the children. (RB)
