Student Revolving plan to go after pension halted
WITH THE HELP of an attorney, at least one woman has stopped the Student Revolving Loan Fund (SRLF) from dipping into her pension.
In order to recoup funds from defaulters, the Government fund has been finding unorthodox ways to make the guarantors pay up.
One woman who signed to be a guarantor in 2009 told the MIDWEEK NATION that she received a letter from the fund last month. She said a copy was also sent to the Accountant General, requesting that she settle the debt of the borrower.
The 60-year-old said that the $50 000 loan was to a relative. She said she was not happy with the attempt to make monthly withdrawals so she sought legal action.
She contacted an attorney who then responded to the fund with another letter to stop the process. (TSG)
