BARBADOS’ competitors have been given the assurance that they will be allowed to compete in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships despite their late arrival in the Dominican Republic.

In the wake of Tropical Storm Matthew, flights in and out of the Grantley Adams International Airport were delayed, causing the 20-member-team to depart 24 hours late.

The team, originally scheduled to leave on Wednesday for the competition which began yesterday in Santo Domingo, were assured by officials that they would still be able to compete, said Barbados Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation president Dr Andrew Forde.

“The CACBBFF (Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding Fitness Federation) has been informed of our expected late arrival, and they have graciously consented to facilitate us to participate in the championship,” said Forde, who is also the team manager, told WEEKENDSPORT yesterday. (RA)
