Union demanding decent work
THE BARBADOS WORKERS’ UNION (BWU) is keeping its eye on a number of businesses as the union celebrates the annual World Day For Decent Work.
The union’s General Secretary Toni Moore has told businesses which might be engaging in shady employment practices in relation to temporary workers or those on contracts, to stop it or prepare to face the public.
But it will not be naming and shaming any businesses just yet, as at least one has vowed to change its policies.
Moore, who was addressing a media briefing Friday at Solidarity House, said the union will be focusing on workers on temporary contracts who face intimidation and who are being denied the right to job security. (HLE)
