REPRESENTATIVES FROM 17 Caribbean countries are currently in Barbados to mark the first Caribbean Infection Control Week.

Delegates from each country are at a one-day seminar at Radisson Aquatica where experts from hospitals, universities and other institutions from around the world, are sharing information on best practice.

Head of the Infection Control Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and coordinator of the week’s activities, Dr Corey Forde, said infection control conferences were held in Barbados for the past three years and they widened the scope for 2016.

Forde said the seminar would look at core infection areas like Hand Hygiene Quality, Occupational Health and Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance. (YB)
