THE LONE DAY school teachers have for themselves to air their professional concerns seems to be having a positive impact on students; so educators are lobbying for day number two.

President of the Barbados Secondary Teachers Union (BSTU) Mary Redman said they had actually witnessed record numbers for those who turned out at Solidarity House yesterday.

“We tried to get a second teachers’ professional day a couple of days ago from the ministry,” she said.

Redman said numbers normally totalled around 120, but this time they had reached 152.

“We think that it is a very good opportunity that teachers could deal with the issues that affect them. Macro-professional issues, not teaching methodologies because the schools can deal with that,” she said. (MR)
