Charles returns to Pride squad
WANDERERS’ forgotten man is back in the fold.
No, not Kirk Edwards.
Leg-spinner Nikolai Charles has been embraced again after a five-year break while young batsmen Anthony Alleyne and Aaron Jones finally broke into the Barbados Pride team when the 13-man squad was named yesterday.
Chairman of selectors Hendy Wallace announced the side, and the Pride’s new partnership with insurance giants ICBL, ahead of next month’s opening round Professional Cricket League (PCL) fixture against Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Warner Park, St Kitts, from November 11 to 14.
Edwards, a former national captain and West Indies batsman, who celebrates his 32nd birthday next week, was excluded after a surprise call-up to trials despite a poor run of form at both the club and first-class levels. (EZS)
