A POLICE CONSTABLE was left nursing a gunshot injury to a leg following a freak incident yesterday.

Reports reaching the DAILY NATION were that Antonio Marshall was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being shot in the right leg.

Sources said he had the gun holstered and was getting into a vehicle when a piece of string hooked onto the trigger, causing the gun to discharge.

The injury left the bone in the leg protruding.

Police public relations officer, Acting Inspector Roland Cobbler, confirmed that an officer had been injured in the right leg while in the line of duty at Central Police Station around 9:30 a.m.

He was taken to the hospital by a police vehicle and was treated and discharged. Investigations are continuing. (RB)
