Stoute steps down
THE MAN who gave the Caribbean Olympic movement a voice is now quietly going into the background.
After 17 years at the helm, Steve Stoute has decided to call it a day by stepping down as the only president the Caribbean Association of Nation Committees (CANOC) has ever known.
The move was made official at the organisation’s annual general assembly in Guadeloupe over the weekend, before Stoute confirmed the news in a telephone interview with NATION SPORT.
“I have been leading it for 17 years now, and with the closure of this latest Olympic cycle at the Rio Olympics, I felt it was a good opportunity for new leadership,” explained the long-serving Barbados Olympic Association president.
