Legal clinic offering free advice
BARBADIANS WILL BE able to get free legal advice starting on Saturday, compliments the Barbados Bar Association which launched its Pro Bono Legal Clinic yesterday offering 15-minute sessions.
At least 33 attorneys have volunteered to give legal advice on any matter during the sessions. The clinic will not, however, be offering free legal representation.
“The clinic will entail assessing initial information given by members of the public, directing them as to whether they have a case or do not have a case . . . providing general advice on the initial issue,” said Leisel Weekes, president of the Bar.
During the launch at the Bar’s Perry Gap, Roebuck Street, St Michael office, Weekes explained that the clinics, to be held at the office every other Saturday, will run until June next year and will move from parish to parish to give everyone a chance to benefit. (LK)
