Juniors go the distance

THE SWELTERING HEAT did little to suppress the excitement of about 1 000 primary school children yesterday at the Wildey Gymnasium.

They were participating and encouraging their peers, along with parents and physical education teachers, in the National Sports Council cross-country meet at the gymnasium circuit.

Overall 451 boys and 441 girls participated in the meet that featured competition in four sections.

In the 1 200 metres for girls, eight-year-old Avielle Small of Gordon Walters Primary School finished first with a time of 4:52 minutes. (RA)
