Eyes on two past winners

PAST Derby winners Knight Rider and Poetic Licence spearhead today’s Independence Celebrations Raceday when the Barbados Turf Club’s third racing season opens at the Garrison Savannah.

The two horses will compete in the second and sixth races respectively on the nine-race programme starting at 12:40 p.m.

The Gay Smith-owned Knight Rider, which defeated the top class horses at age three, has been away from the race track for 16 months.

Drawn on the inside, he will have to catch the speedy Dazzlin David and Lavani in the feature 50th Anniversary Of Independence Handicap over 1 100 metres. (LY)
