Government ‘to work with’ NHC debtors

GOVERNMENT HAS NO intention of putting poor people in National Housing Corporation (NHC) units out on the streets because they are unable to pay their rent.

Not under Denis Kellman’s (below) watch.

Instead, the Minister of Housing and Lands said Government would seek balance in dealing with those who have found themselves owing the NHC. denis-kellman

But they will continue to go after those who can afford to pay, but remain delinquent.

Kellman’s comments came in response to a special audit by Auditor General Leigh Trotman, which reported that almost half of the tenants at Government’s high-rise housing project at Valery, St Michael, are already in arrears for unpaid rent. (BA)
