Plans for Glendairy not clear-cut

GLENDAIRY PRISON can add to the island’s tourism product, but don’t expect to see it vested in any private entity just yet.

However, the immediate past owner, the Barbados Prison Service, has indicated it wants to see Glendairy preserved if only to honour its members who have “put blood, sweat and tears” into the historic site.

Minister of Housing and Lands Denis Kellman, who assumed ministerial control of the buildings at the end of last month, was quick to point out that the island’s tourism product needed some “exciting projects”.
