Sex ed blasted

AN EXPERT child protection advocate is warning that sex education is a way to get pornography into schools and children engaging in sex.

Dr Judith Reisman, an American research professor, told the DAILY NATION that the programme was one way children were being rewired from an early age into believing that sex was something casual they should engage in.

But Juliet Bynoe-Sutherland, executive director of the Barbados Family Planning Association, one of the resource organisations used by education officials, said the authorities had been very responsible and there should be no fear that pornography was being taught.

“This is not Europe or the United States. I don’t think this is fair to the Government or us resource persons. The Government is being very responsible. They are preparing 11-year-old girls for entry into schools with 15- and 16-year-old boys,” she said. (AC)
