DOING BUSINESS in Barbados is hard.

That was the takeaway point brought to the fore last night during an Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) panel discussion.

Sitting at 117th out of 190 countries ranked by the World Bank in terms of doing business, Barbados was found to be fifth out of eight Caribbean countries listed in this year’s rankings that were released October 26.

Auditor Andrew Brathwaite presented the figures to the packed room that included ICAB president Lisa Padmore, Minister of State Senator Darcy Boyce, former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance, William Layne, and Barbados Private Sector Association chairman Charles Herbert. (AD)
