HC rule cross-country

IT TOOK Jonathan Jones and Rio Williams a shade over 15 minutes to make their presence felt as their new school, Harrison College (HC), dominated Zone 2 of the Barbados Secondary Schools Cross-Country series at the Deighton Griffith circuit in Kingsland yesterday.

Harrison College, with another newcomer, Layla Haynes, impressively winning the girls’ first form race with a scintillating sprint to the finish line, won four of the six categories.

St George’s first form boys and Springer Memorial’s Under-15 girls were the other age group winners.

Not even a wrong turn by CARIFTA Games double gold medallist Jones and Williams, which caused them to lose some time, could stop them from a one-two finish in the senior boys’ four-kilometre event.
