Lil Man takes sting out of Venom

THE inimitable Antonio “Lil Man” Daniel may have met the winningest road tennis player Julian “Michael Jackson” White in last night’s finals of the City of Bridgetown Credit Union World Road Tennis Championship at the Springer Memorial School for a top purse of $20 000.

However, Daniel provided the fans with twice that value in shots when he dismantled No. 1 seed Mark “Venom” Griffith 21-6, 21-18 in Saturday night’s semi-finals.

That victory avenged the last game blow-out in the Monarch Of The Court when Griffith took home a car while Daniel was left smarting over his second such loss to Griffith in a final.

However, on Saturday night, Daniel moved with the grace of a dancer and wielding his racquet as if it were Thor’s Mjolnir, he brought the thunder and lightning to light up the court at Springer while the fans jumped and screamed in sheer delight. (KB)
