Teen defies paralysis to graduate

CHRISTOPHER ROUSE rode up to the podium to receive his certificate.

The announcement of his name and appearance on stage at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) drew the most enthusiastic of cheers from his schoolmates. The pride was evident on the faces of members of the faculty.

The 19-year-old uses a wheelchair. 

His mobility challenge did not stop him from completing and receiving his certificate in mechanical maintenance during the graduation and awards ceremony on Saturday night.

“I am glad to be able to finish and graduate. That’s good enough for me,” he told the DAILY NATION(WILLCOMM)
