Creating outlet for artists

IF NEW AND established hotels want to benefit from Government incentives, they might have to ensure that two per cent of their decorating budget is allocated to purchasing Barbadian art.

Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley made the point on Sunday night during the opening of this year’s NIFCA Visual Arts And Photography Exhibition at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

He stressed it was now critical “to give to our visual artists access to more opportunities for earning revenue”.

He also said the same should obtain for Government when constructing or refurbishing buildings. (GBM)
