IT HAS BEEN a nightmare for some in-bound passengers at Grantley Adams International Airport following the start of a work-to-rule over the weekend.

The industrial action by some immigration and customs officers left long lines crawling through the baggage claim area as evidenced by photographs and videos taken in the area.

The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), which sanctioned the action, was pleased with the response to date, with acting deputy general secretary Delcia Burke describing it as “effective”.

“We have been informed that the action taken at the airport has been very effective yesterday (Sunday) and on Saturday, and the better part of today (yesterday) with long lines snaking all around,” she said, adding that by today they expected the situation there to be resolved. (AD)
