BARBADIANS IN NEW YORK commemorated this country’s 50th Independence anniversary at a gala Friday night.

Held at the plush Terrace on the Park caterers in Queens, the event was sponsored by the Council of Barbadian Organisations in New York (CBONY) under the patronage of Consul General Dr Donna Hunte-Cox.

The gathering of more than 450 people joined Barbados’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Tony Marshall, in celebrating the occasion.

“I deem it an honour to be invited by the CBONY to bring you a greeting message this year 2016 [as] Barbados celebrates its 50th anniversary of Independence as well as its 50th anniversary as a member of the United Nations,” said Marshall. (CJ)
