Church springs may ease crisis
THE ANGLICAN CHURCH may come to the rescue of many Barbadians who are hard hit by the nation’s water shortage crisis.
And while it will not be “holy” water that quenches Bajans’ thirst for paradise, the church, which owns freshwater springs in St John, hopes to expand its supply of water to homes through Barbados Water Authority (BWA) pipes.
That indication has come from Bishop of Barbados and Archbishop of the West Indies, Dr John Holder.
He said the church was discussing the idea with BWA officials and others so that more of the natural spring water which was flowing aimlessly into the sea could be diverted to the national supply. (TB)
