THE SIX LIFE SENTENCES imposed on Campus Trendz killer Renaldo Alleyne were warranted.
This was the essence of submissions made on Wednesday by Principal Crown Counsel Anthony Blackman as he responded to earlier arguments by Alleyne’s counsel Arthur Holder.
The appellant been charged with the September 3, 2010 murders of Shana Griffith, Kelly-Ann Welch, Pearle Amanda Cornelius, Kellishaw Ollivierre, Nikita Belgrave and Tiffany Harding, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on June 1, 2011 on all counts. On July 4, 2011, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice Elneth Kentish on each count, with the sentences to run concurrently.
Holder in his submissions had said the sentenceof life imprisonment on each count was wrongin law and principle, as the trial judge failed tofollow the established guidelines in arriving at the imposition, therefore suggesting that the sentencewas excessive. (TKS)
