THE REBRANDED Food And Rum Festival officially kicked off on Thursday night at Oistins Bay Garden in Christ Church.
With vendors in the blue Barbados Food And Rum Festival branded T-shirts doing a brisk trade, their grills blazed huge fires as they tried to make sure supply kept up with demand.
The smell of roasted breadfruit, grilled fish, macaroni pie and grilled potatoes saturated the air. Government officials and tourism bigwigs from the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. rubbed shoulders with visitors and locals as they all tried to make sure they got their plates or platters.
Fish was the choice for the night as servers with marlin, tuna, sword and shark moved through the crowd to tables under tents.
The festival brings together mixologists and chefs in the industry to show off their skills. (NS)
