Cavs get sweet revenge

THE CAVS got their big rematch. And even better revenge.

Discover 246 Cavaliers have broken up the Pine’s hold on local basketball, using a decisive 14-0 third-quarter run to beat Gatorade Pinelands Future 76-59 in Sunday’s Digicel NexGen Under-23 Independence Invitational final at the Barbados Community College.

It was the first title the Pine lost in a truly historic 2016 season that saw them capture the Premier League, Women’s and Under-16 Junior Championships.

More importantly though, the result served as sweet payback for the Cavs, whose seniors lost out on that Premier League crown before their heavily favoured under-23s also dropped the regular season matchup to Pinelands Future. (JM)
