Skip still an issue at Dover

AN OVERFLOWING SKIP in the heart of the Dover, Christ Church tourist belt was eventually cleared but not before vendors and visitors expressed disgust about its state.

But, said one entrepreneur in the area, it was residents and outsiders, not the vendors who plied their trade in the beach kiosks, who were to blame for the skip’s state.

The overflowing skip was removed, an empty one placed in its stead and a “Bobcat” removed the spilled-over garbage on Saturday afternoon, but not before attorney at law and Barbados Labour Party candidate for Christ Church South, Ralph Thorne QC, said it appeared as if things in the tourist belt were “falling apart at the seams”.

“It is almost embarrassing that we have to be complaining about moving garbage in this day and age. Simple, simple things but the consequences are serious. The consequences are serious for these vendors,” he stressed. (HLE)
