Abbey still a big drawing card

ST NICHOLAS ABBEY came alive on Wednesday when locals and tourists paid a visit to the centuries-old plantation house as part of activities marking Barbados’ golden jubilee.

As patrons traversed the dimly lit and winding corridors of the St Peter attraction, they were treated to Barbadian culinary delights: hickory-smoked ham cutters, cold cane juice and soft banana bread.

Camille Warren, wife of manager Simon Warren, said she was pleased that they could showcase the history of the Abbey this year through the open day.

She even joked that her husband had named a bottle of rum after their twin sons Arthur and Henry. (MR)
