A FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Barbados until 4 p.m. today.

This means that some flooding is already occurring or is likely to occur.

In issuing the notice at 11:15 a.m., the Barbados Meteorological Services said the combination of a trough system and the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone has been generating pockets of moderate to heavy showers and periods of rain across Barbados during the last few hours.

These conditions are expected to persist during the afternoon with some improvement likely into tonight.

Rainfall accumulations of at least two to three inches (50 to 75 millimeters) are possible. Thus residents in flood prone areas should take the necessary precautions.

This information will be updated at 4 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant.

This and other related information may be obtained from www.barbadosweather.org or by dialling 976-2376. (PR/NB)
