THE SOUTH COAST sewage leak is taking a toll not just on residents, but on business owners as well.

And just as visitors to the island took to the Internet to express concerns over its potential impact, business owners here are already reporting cancellations.

With more heavy showers expected to hit the island later this week, several frustrated Worthing, Christ Church residents spoke out yesterday during a Barbados Labour Party-organised meeting at Worthing Beach, which has been closed by Government after brackish water was seen flowing into the sea from the sluice gate at the Graeme Hall Swamp.

As dead fish floated in the nearby canal to the sluice gate, owner of Vista Villas, Neysha Soodeen, said that not only was she receiving cancellations, but guests at her properties were looking to leave because of the pungent smell and possible health effects. (AD)
