Mall makeover

AN ICONIC half-century old symbol of commerce on Barbados’ upscale West Coast is about to close for a massive makeover.

The new facility is expected to include a considerably expanded Massy Supermarket.

The plan has left some small entrepreneurs and major business operators that have called the complex home for decades concerned about their future after the closure.

West Coast Mall, which is located opposite the municipal complex at Holetown and owned by the Massy group, houses several independent stores and one of the oldest branches of the original Super Centre Supermarket chain, now rebranded Massy Supermarkets. (MR)
