Stoute: I applaud cyclists’ initiative

PRESIDENT OF THE Barbados Olympic Association (BOA), Steve Stoute, is calling the action on the part of Friends of Cycling – Barbados to host their own event admirable, but he has stated emphatically that he will not condone any form of boycott on their part.

“I appreciated the action by the cyclists in organising an event albeit outside of the BOA’s Independence Games, because the [Barbados] Cycling Union (BCU) currently is not in a position to organise an event based on the prevailing situation with a court ruling. Although I have not seen the actual court documents, I am going by what I have read and have been told that the executive board cannot make any major decisions until they hold an annual general meeting.
