Doing it Puffy’s way
FOCUSING ON ENJOYING the competition rather than winning seems to have worked just fine for Barbadian Andre “DJ Puffy” Parris.
He mixed his way to the top prize at the Red Bull Thre3Style 2016 World Deejay Competition in Santiago, Chile last night.
Away from the crowds and bright lights of the stage, Puffy reflected on the competition.
“This is a bonus right here. This is an extra gift right here. I am blown away,” he said in an interview.
Puffy was a wild card entry, beating Canada’s DJ Trapment, Beast Mode of Australia and You-Ki of Japan, in that order.
He used dubplates from local soca artistes Rupee and King Bubba FM, and reworked our international superstar Rihanna.
And with the platform provided by Redbull, the future looks very bright for him.
“It is only up from here, really. Red Bull and Thre3Style put you on a platform that people dream of. I’m just looking forward to carrying the torch in a unique way of course, in my own Puffy way,” the champion said.
