Stamps of centenarians popular among Bajans
BARBADIANS AT HOME and abroad are clamouring for the latest issue of local postal stamps featuring the island’s oldest citizens.
Manager of the Philatelic Bureau of the Barbados Postal Service Deborah Small said there has been heightened interest in the stamps which feature 27 Barbadians aged 100 and over.
She said post offices were registering a steady flow of traffic coming in to purchase the stamps.
Small said the supply of stamps at one district post office was so quickly snapped up, it had to be replenished.
There have also been purchases from Barbadians in the diaspora who are buying the stamps for grandchildren as a record of their family history in the hope they will be passed on to future generations. (GC)
