TWELVE ATHLETES of the Barbados Masters and Seniors Athletic Club will be representing Barbados at the Alabama Games in June 2017.

Four athletes qualified at the Huntsman Senior Games in Utah in October, while eight qualified recently at the Florida Games.

Head coach of the club, Dennis Thornhill, told NATION SPORT the eight who qualified were not chosen as part of the Barbados team who qualified in October, so they had to compete in the Florida Games to qualify for Alabama.

He added that the team, which captured 13 medals – six gold, three silver, four bronze and four ribbons in Florida – had a rest prior to those games, having only a few weeks to get ready for the competition, but they did well and are hoping to get back to full training at the beginning of the year.
