Govt urged to keep its word
THE SMALL BUSINESS Association (SBA) is prepared to take matters “to another level” should Government not keep its promises.
Chief executive officer Lynette Holder said Government was lapsing on funds promised to Barbados’ small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the association would not be standing idly by.
“During the last Budget, the Minister of Finance announced a $50 million fund would be put in place for SMEs. This is December and the $1 or $2 million given to FundAccess so far is just a drop in the bucket,” she said.
Holder gave credit to Minister of Industry, Commerce and Small Business Donville Inniss for announcing the funds should be ready by January, but said this date was not good enough. (CA)
