JUST ONE DAY after a road safety advocate expressed cautious optimism at the record low number of road fatalities in Barbados this year, another young man lost his life in a collision.

On Wednesday, Daniel Sylvester Louis, 25, of Silver Hill Drive, Christ Church, was pronounced dead at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after succumbing to injuries suffered during an accident along the Graeme Hall Section of the ABC Highway. He was the 10th road fatality. sharmaine

The day before, president of the Barbados Road Safety Association Sharmane Roland-Bowen (right) told the WEEKEND NATION she was hoping road deaths stayed in single digits.

“I am very happy so far, there have only been nine fatalities on the road for the year and this is the first time in decades it has been so low. I hope this number remains in the single digits but there have been some close calls so I’m not counting my lucky stars yet,” she said. (CA)
