Oval grass makeover
A MONTH of tender loving care will certainly make a difference for cricket lovers in Barbados.
And if all goes well over the next two weeks, the mecca of Caribbean cricket should be in pristine condition for when Kensington Oval hosts its zone in the regional Super50 One-day tournament which starts later this month.
The SUNDAY SUN has learnt that Peter Storms, the same golf-turf specialist who cured the Oval’s devil grass invasion two years ago, was brought back in and given the mandate to return the grass to normal for a second time.
Late in November, the playing surface at Kensington, was in a state of disrepair with clear brown patches, and visible areas of top-soil damage in numerous spots due to the constant movement of heavy-duty equipment and sound stages across the facility for a number of entertainment events.
