CLAIMS FOR COMPENSATION by motorists who suffer damage to their vehicles as a result of potholes or road faults could be dealt with faster if a recommendation that the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) handle claims over $2 500 is accepted.

Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley said recommendations were made for MTW to handle claims up to $5 000, and possibly $10 000, to take some load off the Solicitor General’s Chambers.

Currently the MTW can only handle claims as high as $2 500, with all others going to the Solicitor General.

Lashley made the comments while reminding the public that as provided for by the law, they could make claims to the MTW to be investigated. (LK)
