BARBADOS NOW have real hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Football’s governing body announced Tuesday evening they would be increasing the number of participating teams from 32 to 48 from 2026.

And according to president of the Barbados Football Association (BFA), Randy Harris, this is a push in the right direction for the local boys.

“The truth is that for Barbados and the region, the chances of qualifying for the World Cup finals will be much greater. The thing will be to plan from now because it is set to start in 2026. If we could have a programme that would include 13-or-14-year- olds, we should be able to pull a formidable team with the hopes of making it there. . . ” (RA)
