Sinckler knocks drop in productivity

MINISTER OF FINANCE Chris Sinckler is not satisfied that Barbadians are producing at their optimum level.

He has, therefore, suggested that the matter be addressed with “some degree of alacrity”, noting that this could help improve the economic fortunes
of the island.

“We can see from the economic statistics that while we have seen marginal increases in productivity it has not been consistently high to the extent to contribute to overall increases in output,” he said during the media launch and cocktail reception for the National Year Of Productivity in the garden close to Baobab Tower, Warrens, on Friday.

He cited the 2014 Economic And Social Report which indicated that the rate of growth across sectors was slower than the previous decade. (WILLCOMM)
