SUPPORTERS FROM ALL corners of society came out in their numbers last Sunday at the first Polo event for the year at the Holders Hill, St James home grounds.
The event entitled Polo for Prostate was a collaborative effort between the Barbados Polo Club and the Barbados Cancer Society, to bring a greater awareness to men, especially those over 40 years old and encourage them
to get tested.
Spectators from as far as Sweden, came out to join forces to raise funds
for much needed equipment for the Cancer Society.
Despite the intermittent drizzles, it did not stop spectators of the sport from enjoying the game of polo against the picturesque backdrop of Holders – first between the Red team and Egerton, and then the Barbados Cancer Society (green) and Prostate Cancer (blue).
At the end of the event, there was an auction held with pieces of jewellery donated by Colombian Emeralds, while the four jerseys of the winning team, Barbados Cancer Society, were auctioned off for $250.
Commentator Jonathan Simpson kept all entertained during the evening’s proceedings. (RA)
