Panthers roar loudest
THE PURPLE PANTHERS edged out the Yellow Tigers by one point to win the Christ Church Girls’ inter-house championships at Coverley Playing Field last Friday.
The Panthers got revenge on the Tigers who won the championship last year by just two points. Panthers won with 188 points while Yellow placed second with 187, ahead of Blue with 172 and Red with 164.
Victrix ludorum Nya Browne of Gold showed the heart of a tiger, winning the 100 metres and 200 metres and capturing 28 points. She also competed in the 600 metres open, placing second.
Purple’s T’nia Lashley and Azaria Clarke of Red tied for second spot overall with 26 points.
Competing in the Under-11 Division, Lashley won the 400 metres, 200 metres, cricket ball throw and placed fifth in the 100 metres. In the Under-9 Division, Clarke won the 80 metres and 100 metres and placed third in the 150 metres.
Deneisha Best also contributed to Purple’s success in the Under-9 category by tallying 24 points. She won the 150 metres, placed third in the 100 metres and was fifth in the 80 metres. (RG)
