A plea for help

THE CENTRAL BANK’S internal problems have been simmering for years and staff members requesting anonymity tell the WEEKEND NATION the situation is now at crisis stage.

Not only did retiring Deputy Governor Harold Codrington pen a cryptic email to staff saying that all was not well on the eve of his departure last December, but his fellow Deputy Governor Cleviston Haynes took his litany of woes regarding the conduct of Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell to the bank’s directors pleading with them to intervene.

In a leaked August 13, 2015 document obtained by this newspaper, Haynes begged the directors to help him, even though his boss chaired board meetings.

He said that he was being marginalised, as over time Worrell had stripped him of responsibilities, stopped consulting him, thus reducing “his status” and creating “an unwelcoming atmosphere for me in the organisation”. (GE)
